5G and fibre networks
Finland has been one of the first European countries to award operating licences for the 3.5 gigahertz frequency band.
5G network and fibre networks available
The 5G network is available in most Finnish cities and towns, with most coverage in city centres, and then rapidly expanding out. Soon, 5G will also reach the areas outside cities. Fibre networks cover almost every corner of the country and connectivity is excellent.
Finns are used to being able to use online services wherever and whenever. We are the biggest users of mobile data internationally. New networks are being built and improved in Finland all the time. Finland has around 5.5 million inhabitants and we have over 8.5 million mobile broadband contracts, over 1.7 million fixed broadband contracts, and more than half of these are optical fibre.
